Altura Challenge: “Race to the top of the world”

28 02 2011

Acá les tengo otra:
Altura, 92 km (un poco más que 2 maratones seguidas) pero en subida!!! jajajjaja!!!

Hay que trepar nada más que el Mauna Kea, más alta que el Everest si se mide desde su base.

The Altura Challenge is a 57 mile ultra-marathon from Kawaihae to the top of Mauna Kea on the Big Island, HI. But what sets this ultra-apart from others is that it is 57 miles up a mountain– the tallest mountain in the world in fact, which is Mauna Kea. Measured from its base, Mauna Kea is over 33,000 feet tall. But since a starting line on the ocean floor is a bit impractical, the race will start at sea level and runners will ascend 13, 796 feet to reach the finish line. The relentless incline of this course will require boundless DETERMINATION. There will be a limit of 57 entrants. This race is not for the novice or the faint of heart. A good candidate for this race is one who has a solid record in ultra-running and is no stranger to brutal trails with steep hills.
